Ushor

Kolkata, West Bengal | July 15, 2025

As Bengal prepares to welcome Maa Durga with devotion and grandeur, Ushor (United Sympathetic Hands of Relief) brings forward a mission that blends celebration with compassion. The 2025 initiative, titled “To Reach the Unreached,” seeks to make Durga Puja meaningful for those who are often left outside the festive spotlight.

This year, Ushor’s efforts aim to remind us all that the true strength of Maa Durga lies in inclusion, empathy, and empowerment.

🎯 Campaign Objectives:

👗 Clothing the Uncelebrated: 8,000 New Outfits

Puja often begins with a new outfit — something many take for granted. Ushor is ensuring that 8,000 individuals, including:

  • Children in orphanages and shelter homes

  • Specially-abled children

  • Children of sex workers

  • Elderly in old age homes

  • Poor families in remote Purulia villages

receive brand-new clothes, bringing dignity and a smile to those who rarely get to celebrate.

🛕 Durga Darshan for 200 Orphaned Children

To bridge the gap between tradition and lived experience, Ushor will host 200 orphan children on a guided tour of Kolkata’s most iconic pandals. The day will include:

  • Delicious meals from trusted restaurants

  • Cultural storytelling and fun activities

  • Supportive volunteers ensuring comfort and safety

For many of these children, this will be their very first Puja memory — one they’ll cherish forever.

🍛 500 Meals Served with Love

As part of its food relief initiative, Ushor will serve 500 freshly cooked meals to:

  • Street dwellers

  • Daily wage earners

  • Domestic workers

  • Elderly individuals living alone

Each meal represents not just nourishment, but the joy of being remembered during a time of celebration.

“Durga Puja isn’t just about rituals — it’s about realizing the divine within us through service. With ‘To Reach the Unreached,’ we want to offer the warmth of celebration to those who need it most,” said a spokesperson from Ushor.
