Kochi, June 10, 2025 — Turning football glory into green action, the Kerala Blasters Army, the official fan club of Kerala Blasters FC, wrapped up a powerful week-long initiative titled “A Tree for a Goal”, marking a new chapter in sports-driven environmental activism.
From June 1 to June 7, fans across every district in Kerala united to plant 52 saplings, each representing a goal scored by Kerala Blasters FC during the 2024–25 season — not just in the Indian Super League (ISL), but also in the Durand Cup and Super Cup.
🌱 Goals That Grow: The Heart Behind the Campaign
At the core of the initiative was a beautifully simple pledge: One Goal = One Tree. With each goal the team celebrated on the field, the fan army honored it by nurturing new life in the soil.
“This initiative is our tribute to both the club’s success and the environment,” said a Kerala Blasters Army representative. “Every goal planted a dream—both for the team and for the Earth.”
🌿 Leadership, Legacy, and Grassroots Unity
Lending weight and visibility to the campaign was State Agriculture Minister Sri. P. Prasad, who actively participated in sapling planting events. Football also met legacy with the presence of T.G. Purushothaman, assistant coach and former Santosh Trophy hero, who joined fans in the symbolic gesture of planting for the future.
Driving the movement at the grassroots were key state committee members — Abhijith K.S., Sobhith Joshy, Gokul, Raghunandan, and Ramshad — whose coordination ensured the campaign’s success across Kerala.
💛 A Supporters’ Club with a Social Conscience
Founded in 2014, the Kerala Blasters Army has become much more than a match-day presence. Known for electrifying support from the West Gallery of Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the group has long been involved in impactful social initiatives — from blood donation camps and charity drives to public awareness programs.
With “A Tree for a Goal,” the Army added another dimension to their legacy: environmental stewardship.
“This is about creating meaning beyond matchdays,” said Abhijith K.S., one of the campaign’s coordinators. “We believe in cheering through action—making every fan’s passion count for something greater.”
🌍 A Greener Vision for the Future
As the 52 saplings begin to grow, the Kerala Blasters Army is already looking ahead. Plans are in motion to expand the campaign next season, bringing in schools, eco-clubs, and local communities to build wider participation in climate action.
The dream? A “Goal Forest” — where each tree tells the story of a season, a victory, and a commitment to a healthier planet.
