Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: From humble beginnings in Amarapuram, Kottayam, to global sporting arenas, Dr. C. Ajithkumar has emerged as one of India’s most influential athletic coaches. An International Athletic Coach, Director of Sports, and Associate Professor, he has dedicated his career to one mission:
“To create Olympic medalists for our nation.”
Early Inspiration
Son of late P. K. Chellappan Sir and Janamma Teacher, Ajithkumar was first guided by Merikutty Teacher, who instilled discipline and passion. His university mentor, P. V. Velsi Sir, shaped his athletic skills. Supported by his village Amara and the National Arts and Sports Club, he earned the Best Athlete Award from the Government of Kerala in 1991, marking the start of a historic journey.
Guided by Mentors
Ajithkumar credits much of his growth to two mentors:
